Board of Trustees Approves Rock Island Park Pavilion

The Calhan Board of Trustees has approved a plan to add an open pavilion and paved parking at the northwest side of Thomason Field at Town Park. The pavilion will will allow for an expanded concession center and additional public restrooms. There will also be a small outdoor grass ampitheater on the north side of the pavilion surrounded by trees.

Additionally, the open field at the north side of the park will be paved for 100 parking spaces, and the trail at the south side of the park that starts at the existing dirt parking will be extended northward past the pavilion and...

Golden West Power Partners LLC to Build Wind Farm

This project is currently on hold as Golden West Power Partners LLC and Xcel Energy renegotiate. This post will be updated as more information becomes available.

The Calhan Board of Trustees has approved Golden West Power Partners LLC plans to build 147 turbines atop 425-foot towers on nearly 25,000 acres south of U.S. 24 between Calhan and Ramah.
